From his angle, it looks like the player (Konate) is being kicked as he’s taking the shot. “But when you slow it down and analyse it, obviously the Galatasaray defender touches the ball first.

The Liverpool player kicks the bottom of his boot and therefore VAR is right to recommend an on-field review to Clement [Turpin], and he correctly overturns his decision and restarts with a drop ball.”Konate struggles against GalatasarayKonate was slammed by Liverpool fans for his performance against Galatasaray, in what was the latest of a string of poor showings from the centre back. The 26-year-old was bailed out on a number of occasions by goalkeeper Alisson, who was forced off in the second half with an injury.Real Madrid have been heavily linked with Konate over recent months, as discussions around the Frenchman’s contract situation continue. The defender’s current deal expires at the end of the season, and there has so far been no indication that an extension agreement is imminent. For more Liverpool and exclusive news, follow us on Facebook or join our brand new WhatsApp Channel for instant updates to be sent straight to your phone.
