Liverpool remain in the picture to sign Denzel Dumfries from Inter Milan this summer, says journalist Fabrizio Romano. The Reds are potentially on the lookout for a new right-back having seen Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong struggle this season. After rumours emerged of a late Liverpool swoop in January, Dumfries came back onto the radar as a player to watch on Friday, and taking to his Italian language YouTube channel, Romano confirmed that the Dutchman could be one to watch. Or will it be another difficult campaign? 😬 Photo Credit: Getty Images/Carl Recine Liverpool remain a possible destination for DumfriesAs they looked to cope with injuries to Bradley and Frimpong, Liverpool briefly looked into signing Dumfries on loan in January.According to Romano, Inter ‘immediately’ shut the door on that happening, but he says that interest has continued from Liverpool’s end, and with Dumfries’ release clause becoming active this summer, a move to Anfield could still transpire.“Denzel Dumfries is a hot topic for the summer, an issue that we need to keep monitoring,” he said.

The release clause has a very limited timeframe.“One team to keep an eye on Denzel Dumfries remains Liverpool. It wasn’t possible, partly because Dumfries was injured.”Photo by Image Photo Agency/Getty ImagesREAD MORE: Liverpool transfer news round-up: Trio could leave, calls made for Rafael Leao and more“Inter wouldn’t have agreed to a loan deal in January, which was perhaps the only reason why Liverpool could even consider that kind of move, but Inter immediately said no.“Let’s see whether this summer Liverpool go back in for Dumfries,” Romano added.
