Cody Gakpo has decided to leave Liverpool before the transfer deadline. Gakpo attracted interest from Tottenham and Manchester City in recent weeks with his future at Anfield uncertain following Andoni Iraola’s arrival.

But despite remaining a staple of the Reds’ starting line-up in the opening weeks of the season, the Netherlands international is still set to depart. City emerged as surprise suitors for Gakpo and sounded out to his representatives about a potential move across the Premier League.

According to the Athletic, the 27-year-old has now agreed to join Enzo Maresca’s side subject to a deal being reached between the clubs. Gakpo has produced 71 goal involvements in 181 apperances since joining from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023 for an initial £35 million transfer.
