Liverpool should feel the full support of English football when they take on Manchester City this Sunday, with the watching public desperate to see the Reds win.City’s first game back after being found guilty of breaching Premier League financial rules was always going to be tasty, but the fact that it is at Anfield, of all places, is perfect for the narrative.Usually one of Liverpool’s fiercest detractors, Gary Neville has already admitted that he will be supporting the Reds in a once-in-a-lifetime feeling, but with almost everyone hoping for Andoni Iraola’s team to dish out some swift justice, the Manchester United legend has claimed that this current Liverpool side just might not be up to it. With everyone so keen to see them beat City, will they crumble?

If this was Klopp’s Liverpool they would drive them into the ground and literally finish them off in one day. I’m not sure on this Liverpool team,” he said.“Because you know something, I was thinking this about the Cantona return game against Liverpool that I played in, and I’m not saying it’s similar, but it feels like everybody’s sort of waiting for this game and we didn’t turn up on the day.

Liverpool were far better.”READ MORE: Erling Haaland challenges Liverpool player before Man City head to Anfield, ‘faster than him’“We drew 2-2 in the end, but I just wonder whether everybody from Liverpool on Sunday, the players in particular are thinking ‘everyone’s with us, everyone’s wanting us to win’, because they are. “I just worry whether Liverpool have actually got it in them to be able to go and deliver I just I look at Liverpool and think ‘are they going to show up that lot?’ Because they need to show up.”Given the seasons they had last term and the way they have started the new campaign as well, there is little argument that City are in a better place than Liverpool on the pitch right now. However, Anfield can often act as the very best leveller, and with off-the-pitch matters surely set to factor in as well, hopefully the Reds can raise their game and deliver a result which will suit everybody.
