Immediately, the former Liverpool coach was the favorite to take over for Nagelsmann, with Klopp agreeing to the position. Now, with Klopp being tabbed to lead Germany into its next era, Neville believes the job is not as easy as it looks, despite how talented the squad is now and in the future."The thing is about international football is you’ve got a fixed pool of players that you can pick from whereas with clubs you can sign players from different nationalities," Neville began during a Q&A session for The Overlap."I wouldn’t say [club management] is easy but you’ve obviously got the pick of the world, you can go and sign players from everywhere, whereas with Germany, if they haven’t got a good crop coming through and they haven’t got a good talent base for the next four or five years then there’s nothing he can do really."The former Manchester United right-back also claimed that while Germany has "some decent players" such as Florian Wirtz, Jamal Musiala, and Kai Havertz, he doesn't believe that they can compete with France's top players.

In the same vein, Neville believes that Germany's best is "a level below" the rest of Europe's best.Gary Neville believes Jurgen Klopp could struggle with his Germany appointment(Image: Photo by James Gill - Danehouse/Getty Images)"I look at England’s front players like [Bukayo] Saka and [Phil] Foden and [Cole] Palmer and [Harry] Kane and [Morgan] Rogers and [Jude] Bellingham, and I think our players are better than Germany’s," he posited."‘You can never write Germany off just because we’ve got their history of seeing them win but I wouldn’t be thinking he’s going to go in there and be able to get [them firing]."Even if Klopp were somehow able to get the German stars on the same page, it would not be easy to get them to play as a cohesive unit, as evidenced by a World Cup favorite's flameout in the Round of 16 against Erling Haaland and Norway."Look at Carlo Ancelotti and Brazil and they weren’t quite right. It’s difficult to make them right and he’s a great manager," his final warning to Klopp concluded.Klopp is set to sign a contract running until the end of the 2030 World Cup.

He will be in charge of the national team for two tournaments, starting with the Euro 2028.In a statement, the German Football Association (DFB) confirmed that talks with Klopp are on the verge of being completed. “The DFB president Bernd Neuendorf and DFB vice-president Hans-Joachim Watzke held their first in-depth talks with Jürgen Klopp yesterday in New York regarding his potential appointment as national team coach," the statement began, according to The Guardian."During the constructive exchange, an agreement was reached on the key points of a potential contract.
