Image Credits: Imago ImagesThe end of a domestic season always brings a familiar wave of housekeeping across the English football pyramid, and it’s proven no different for Hereford FC in the National League North.Boards meet, budgets get rubber-stamped, and managers sit down for the awkward face-to-face chats that decide who stays and who goes.

Retained and released lists are simply part of the rhythm of May, and this week it was Hereford FC’s turn to publish theirs, and it’s a list that contained a name with a familiar Liverpool connection.According to the official Hereford FC announcement, Keenan Quansah – older brother of former Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah – has been released by The Bulls along with six other senior players.Keenan, 28, arrived at Edgar Street last summer from Southport to add competition to the Hereford defence in the National League North. The 6ft 4in defender, who can operate at right-back or in the centre, came through the Liverpool academy alongside his younger brother before completing his youth development at Accrington Stanley. He made 33 appearances in the National League North, chipping in with one goal in his final season with the club.Hereford added:“Everyone at the MandM Edgar Street Stadium would like to sincerely thank all those who are leaving for their efforts in a Bulls shirt, particularly the part they played in securing the club’s National League North status. We wish them every success moving forward.”As for Jarell himself, the 23-year-old picked up a left thigh muscle injury in late March, which forced him to withdraw from England’s friendlies against Uruguay and Japan. The good news is that he has since returned to action for Bayer Leverkusen after training in full again in mid-April, slotting back into Kasper Hjulmand’s back three for the Bundesliga run-in.The hope now, with the £35m summer signing back fit and firing, is that his World Cup ambitions haven’t taken too damaging a hit ahead of Thomas Tuchel’s final squad call.
