Liverpool supporters may have missed their two pre-season matches so far, with overnight games against Sunderland and Wrexham kicking off at somewhat inconvenient times for UK viewers.If they have not seen Andoni Iraola‘s first two matches in charge of the Reds, fans could be missing some vital clues into who he is planning to use at Liverpool and what positions he will play them in.But you do not need to watch the action on the pitch to garner some clues about who Iraola does and does not fancy during his early days at Anfield. Photo Credit: Getty Images/Sarah Stier/FIFA Iraola has been successful in using every available member of the Liverpool squad across the Sunderland and Wrexham wins, but it is clear that some players are getting less of a look-in than others.With a good number of first-team stars still away, Iraola has been able to give opportunities to some youngsters, but looking at the number of minutes played so far, the likes of Harvey Davies, Josh Sonni-Lambie, Josh Abe and Will Wright are seemingly not in the Spaniard’s thinking for next season.Only the injured Joe Gomez (10 minutes) has played less than the 14 afforded to Davies and Sonni-Lambie, with neither player managing to make much of a claim during Thursday’s match.READ MORE: It was obvious who Liverpool’s best player vs Wrexham was and Andoni Iraola is impressedPhoto by Rich Graessle/Icon Sportswire via Getty ImagesWith 67 and 72 minutes under their belts respectively, Abe and Wright have had more of a chance, but both are probably more likely to spend another season in the U21s based on this evidence.In terms of senior players, Freddie Woodman has played only 23 minutes, while Federico Chiesa would have racked up more than one full half of football had he been fit to play against Wrexham.Iraola is pacing his first-team playersIn what has been a slightly surprising turn, Iraola has also rested some senior players more than expected, playing a number of them for 45 minutes at a time.Curtis Jones, Milos Kerkez, Kostas Tsimikas, Rio Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni have all played two halves, nominally totalling 90 minutes, across two games, as Iraola potentially eases them into action after introducing his intense training sessions.Jeremie Frimpong is another to add to the list, having played 94 minutes in total, while youngsters Mor Talla Ndiaye (81), James McConnell (84) and Calvin Ramsay (85) are all being given ample opportunity to catch Iraola’s eye.With 99 and 102 minutes respectively, Luke Chambers and Calum Scanlon also look like they are being considered for bigger roles by the new boss.

The Georgian has kept goal for 143 minutes so far.But by far and away the biggest winner of pre-season so far has been Ifeanyi Ndukwe, who, after coming on for Gomez after 10 minutes at the weekend, was the only player to stay on the pitch for the full game against Wrexham. Clearly, Iraola has been impressed, and maybe there is still a way Liverpool can persuade the authorities that he should be kept around immediately.
