Ibrahima Konate has again rubbished new claims around his Liverpool contract talks, but expressed his hope that he will be able to announce a decision “very soon.” Reports earlier this week via L’Equipe claimed that Liverpool had made a new contract offer to Konate’s representatives and were confident of reaching an agreement. But speaking to journalists while on duty with the France national team, the centre-back insisted: “I don’t know where that’s coming from.” What did Konate say about new Liverpool contract?



“I’ve seen a lot of things in the press recently, like Liverpool have made me a new offer,” he said per Foot Mercato. “I don’t know where that’s coming from.

“My agents are still in discussions with Liverpool; I hope my decision will be made very soon so I can announce it.” This is not the first time that Konate has dismissed speculation over his future, telling reporters at the end of last season that reports he had rejected an offer were “completely fake.” “I didn’t even ask for something from the club,” he explained. “I knew at one moment people would think I didn’t want to sign the contract but I was never close to signing it.
