He was a big signing for Rangers when they got him on loan from Wolfsburg with an option to buy for around £8 million.
“It’s a big fee for Rangers to pay for him if they do want to make that move a permanent deal. He had injuries and he wasn’t playing there.“He’s a talented player, there’s no doubts about it, but Rangers will be wary of spending that big fee on him if he’s not improving in his performances and having a big impact between now and the end of the season.”Rangers want to offer James Tavernier a new contractOne player who does look set to still be at Rangers next season is club captain Tavernier, who recently surpassed 550 appearances for the Ibrox side.He is close to completing 11 years at the club, but is out of contract this summer and his future remains up in the air as it stands.Despite the uncertainty, sources have told Football Insider that Rangers are open to handing Tavernier a new contract ahead of its expiration date.He has continued to be a regular for the Gers this season, with 12 goals and seven assists in 45 games so far this term.
