Andoni Iraola is set to make the first additions to his Liverpool backroom staff. Iraola was installed as Arne Slot’s successor in the Anfield hot seat last month and wasted little time in attempting to source several of his ex-Bournemouth lieutenants.

Tommy Elphick and Shaun Cooper served as the Basque’s assistants during his three-year spell on the South Coast but were still under contract following his exit. However the pair are on the verge of joining the Reds’ ranks with Elphick set to be confirmed as assistant manager and Cooper taking up duties as first-team coach.

A compensation package is understood to have been brokered with the Cherries to secure the pair’s release as Iraola’s plans for the forthcoming season take shape. Fitness coach Pablo de la Torre is also expected to make the move to Merseyside as a free agent after leaving Bournemouth at the end of the previous campaign.
