Jamie Carragher has urged Liverpool supporters to get behind Arne Slot as he looks to bounce back from a difficult season.Unrest has grown amongst the fanbase following news that Slot is set to stay in his job, with fans frustrated that the Liverpool owners are not making the Dutchman pay the price for this year’s failings.Reacting to news during an interview with BBC Match of the Day, however, Carragher says there’s no reason Slot cannot bounce back and win the Premier League again in 2026/27. Last season we won the league, so we’re allowed an off season, but hopefully that doesn’t happen next season.“He’s [Slot] a manager who’s won the Premier League and there’s a lot of clubs in the league now looking for new managers, and they want to find a manager who they think can win the league. Liverpool have got one, he’s won the league before.” READ MORE: Arne Slot is ‘sure’ Florian Wirtz will end unwanted streak ahead of Man Utd vs LiverpoolPhoto by Liverpool FC/Liverpool FC via Getty Images“But, listen, he’ll be as disappointed as everybody associated with Liverpool with how this season’s gone,” Carragher added.

“But it looks like he’s going to be the manager next season, so let’s get behind him and hopefully we’ll have a better season next season.”Asked whether Slot is the right man to lead Liverpool forward, Carragher ended on a positive note ahead of 26/27.“Yes [he’s the right man],” he answered. “He’s won the Premier League, so why can’t he do it again!”Though Carragher’s positivity is admirable, and perhaps Liverpool could come back to challenge again if they get their recruitment right, for now the prevailing feeling is that it could well swing the other way and be another slog of a campaign under a manager who has plenty of questions to answer.
