Jayden Danns is set for a long-term layoff after injuring his hamstring with the Liverpool U21s last month, and the striker is now likely to undergo surgery. Bajcetic still out after similar surgery Bajcetic underwent surgery on his hamstring at the end of May, and while the midfielder is stepping up his recovery work with individual training at the AXA Training Centre he is yet to be considered for involvement with the team.

Five months after his operation, the next step for the Spaniard will be to build up his game time as part of Page’s U21s. Danns was in the frame for a mid-season loan move prior to his latest injury, but those plans will now be shelved as he focuses on his long-term fitness.

“If anybody can get through this setback, it’s him without doubt “He has the full support of the medical team and myself and the staff. He’ll get through it.” Along with Danns and Bajcetic, Liverpool currently count Alisson and Giovanni Leoni as long-term absentees from the first team, while a host of players are also sidelined at academy level.
