Liverpool’s tactics in talks with PSG to sign Bradley Barcola are now being revealed by journalist Ben Jacobs, who says the Reds are playing a risky game. Jacobs said on talkSPORT: “If Liverpool wait and wait and wait, their feeling will be (Bradley) Barcola’s in an untenable position because PSG have ultimately added Ferran Torres, Mika Godts and Maghnes Akliouche.
“Alternatively, from Liverpool’s perspective, if they go now and try and do it early, Paris Saint-Germain might turn around and say ‘you know the price’ in the hope that Liverpool pay it out of urgency. “Liverpool’s entire tactic is around waiting, feeling in control of it, knowing Barcola wants the move, and then hoping the price comes down in the final days of the window.” Liverpool are taking the same approach they did with Marc Guehi When Liverpool reached an agreement with Crystal Palace for the transfer of Marc Guehi last summer, it came before a deal collapsed on Deadline Day, after which the Englishman moved to Manchester City in January.
Liverpool simply left their move to sign Guehi too late, leaving no time to make alternative plans when it didn’t work out. This approach won’t work forever, and clubs will begin to catch on to Liverpool’s tactics Liverpool need to be careful because this is the sort of negotiation tactics that clubs get fed up with, and it might be the next time it seems they’re trying it, they will simply get turned away.
