Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has announced his next venture in football, confirming he will be joining Magenta TV as a pundit for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. In a recent video posted on social media, Klopp teased fans with the possibility of a managerial comeback, saying, “Many of you have always known better. But I truly couldn’t envision it for myself. Going back to the sideline? I don’t miss anything. This is what I always thought. But now it is tingling again. Grass underneath my feet. The heated atmosphere in the stadium. And I want to be really close again.”
However, Klopp quickly clarified that his return to the sidelines would not be as a manager. “Oh? No, not as a manager,” he said. “I am becoming a pundit for Magenta TV at the FIFA World Cup 2026.” The charismatic German, who stepped down from his role at Liverpool at the end of the 2023-24 season, is currently serving as Head of Global Soccer for Red Bull GmbH. He has also joined a specialist panel for the German Football League (DFL) to help enhance the country’s football standards.
Klopp’s new role will see him providing expert analysis and commentary during the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States. The announcement was made via a video call with German television host Johannes B. Kerner, where Klopp joked, “Hi Johannes, I’m in! See you on June 11 in Mexico! Cool sentence. Except for Indiana Jones, probably nobody can say it.”
While Klopp’s return to the touchline is not as a manager, fans will still be able to enjoy his insights and passion for the game throughout the world’s biggest football tournament. Klopp’s decorated career includes leading Liverpool to the Premier League title in 2019-20, the Champions League in 2019, and multiple domestic cups, as well as two Bundesliga titles with Borussia Dortmund.
