The 38-year-old resigned from his post following his side’s shock defeat to Paraguay in the last-32 of this year’s World Cup, leaving Germany without a knockout win since winning the tournament back in 2014.The German football association (DFB) has wasted no time in going after Nagelsmann’s successor, having confirmed it will be holding talks with Klopp over the vacancy."Regarding the appointment of a new coach, the DFB leadership will now seek talks with Jurgen Klopp," a statement said.
"He has already signalled his general willingness to take on the position."Klopp has been out of management since leaving Liverpool in 2024, and - on numerous occasions - talked down the prospect of him making a return to the dugout.The 59-year-old took up the role as Red Bull’s head of global soccer in January 2025, but he did return to the touchline earlier this year at Anfield.
