It is about availability or the distinct lack of it.Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Brentford head coach Keith Andrews offered a detailed rundown of his squad's fitness concerns.Centre-back Jannik Schuster, who was taken off at half-time during last weekend’s 2-2 draw at Aston Villa due to an ankle issue, and Germany international forward Kevin Schade, forced off in the second half with a shoulder injury, remain locked in a race against time.“Jannik and Kev have been on the grass this week and we’ll see what tomorrow brings in terms of how much they can do,” Andrews explained. The one he picked up away with Denmark was from a pretty naughty tackle.”With young striker Kaye Furo (metatarsal) sidelined following surgery last month and Josh Dasilva (hamstring) still awaiting his first minutes of the 2026/27 campaign, Brentford’s depth is being thoroughly tested.Despite those absences, Andrews retains significant selection dilemmas elsewhere most notably around star midfielder Mamadou Sangaré, who has started on the bench in the Bees' last two outings, and winger Dango Ouattara, who recently suffered an illness while away on international duty with Burkina Faso.“It’s no real reflection on him, that he came out of the starting team.

“Mamadou has been outstanding since he’s come in. I think everyone knows that with the accolades and plaudits he’s had about the start to his Premier League season and how he came in during pre-season and lit it up.“He’s so dynamic in the way he plays and he’s such an infectious player.

He provides something different that other players don’t quite possess; he’s got certain qualities that I love. He’ll play plenty of games for us and prove to be a match-winner for us again pretty soon.”From a Liverpool perspective, looking at Brentford's injury list offers zero room for complacency.
