Sir Kenny Dalglish has confirmed that he is being treated for cancer. The Liverpool legend, widely regarded the club’s greatest figure, went public with his diagnosis on Tuesday after accidentally posting about treatment on social media.

“As my inadvertent social media post has indicated, I am currently undergoing treatment for cancer,” wrote Dalglish. “Unlike my mobile phone use, the treatment is going well.

“Ideally, this would have remained private because that’s the way it should be, but my useless technology skills have forced my hand. “They are a credit to themselves.” Dalglish, 75, and his wife Marina, who was previously treated for breast cancer, have raised more than £13 million to help patients with cancer on Merseyside.
