Not named in the initial travelling party, Kieran Morrison has now been added to the squad, joining fellow under-21s player Wellity Lucky. Having trained with the first team on Monday, Lucky’s inclusion was expected but Morrison is a late addition, likely due to the lack of forwards in Liverpool’s travelling ranks.
Both have played a big part in Liverpool’s progression from the UEFA Youth League league phase this season, with the final match of the first round taking place at 3pm (GMT) on Tuesday, against Inter. Now 19 years old, he is flourishing as a right-sided attacker with a deadly left foot that has provided three assists in four Youth League matches so far this season.
He made his debut for the first team in the Reds’ Carabao Cup defeat to Crystal Palace in October, but despite not showing his best that night, he has continued to impress at the academy. Usually now considered the best centre-back at the academy, he has trained with the first team this season.
