Liverpool are “keeping a close eye” on Tottenham centre-back Micky van de Ven this summer, according to a claim from former scout Mick Brown. Speaking to Football Insider, Brown talked up the idea of the Reds making a move for the Dutchman, as they look to replace the departed Ibrahima Konate: “Van De Ven’s future is still up in the air.
“At first, I thought he was a bit of a typical work-a-day centre-half, but he’s shown he can be more than that and that has impressed Tottenham. “Liverpool will be keeping a close eye on what’s happening there, because Konate is going to leave, so they’ll need a new centre-back. ‘There are a lot of moving parts, but we know Liverpool have been keen on Van de Ven, and if they are given any indication he could be available, they could make a move.
If Tottenham are signing a new centre-back, then it might play right into their hands.” Micky van de Ven a superb centre-back option for Liverpool Van de Ven is an elite centre-back who could be such a successful signing for Liverpool, having been hailed as “unbelievable” by former Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou earlier this year. Admittedly, Van de Ven is a left-sided centre-back, so signing him may mean Virgil van Dijk shifting to the right-hand side, but that could still work.
