Each player missed out on their respective medals at the time due to a Football League qualification criteria ruling they had to play 14 top-flight fixtures that season. Medals were also handed out to four player who could not attend on the night: • Alec Lindsay – six appearances, 1975/76 • Colin Irwin – eight appearances, 1979/80 • Sammy Lee – seven appearances, 1979/80 • Steve Heighway – nine appearances, 1979/80 A medal was presented posthumously to the family of former defender Joey Jones following his untimely passing in July for his 13 appearances in the 1975/76.

Sir Kenny Dalglish presented the medals during the ceremony alongside Liverpool’s chief legal and external affairs officer Jonathan Bamber. “It was an emotional night for many and it’s a real honour to have been able to source and present league championship winner’s medals to our Forever Reds.
