The group is being led by Amit Bhatia, a British-Indian businessman who had been a co-owner and director at Championship side QPR until relinquishing his shares in the club. The consortium is said to be seeking a stake worth around 30 per cent in Liverpool, worth roughly $6 billion.

And I wouldn't say anything than that at this point."Although it would be handing over a large stake in the club if the deal went through, FSG would still remain in control at Liverpool.

The American group, led by John Henry, has sold three per cent of the club to US private equity firm Dynasty Equity. This move would be much more substantial though, and would value the Reds at around $4.5 billion, which is higher than Manchester United when Jim Ratcliffe invested in the Old Trafford side.Get Liverpool's new 2026/27 home kitThis article contains affiliate links, we will receive a commission on any sales we generate from it.
