Liverpool is on the lookout for another new coach, as reports state that a goalkeeping expert has left the club just 12 months after re-joining for a second spell at AnfieldXavi Valero has left Liverpool, with the club now considering options in the goalkeeping coach department(Image: Getty Images)Andoni Iraola's backroom staff for next season appeared settled, but now Liverpool is seemingly on the lookout for another coach, with a key departure to be confirmed.According to The Athletic, goalkeeping coach Xavi Valero has stepped down from his role with the club, just 12 months on from moving back to Merseyside for a second stint with the team. The 53-year-old was previously part of Rafa Benitez's coaching setup, which saw him in position with Liverpool from 2007 until 2010, before joining the head coach in stints with Inter Milan, Chelsea, Napoli, and Real Madrid. His pathway has seen him spend seven years with West Ham as the club's goalkeeping lead, before returning to Liverpool last summer as a key arrival for Arne Slot's coaching team, following the departure of Fabian Otte to Tottenham. However, the report claims that Valero has decided to step down from Liverpool after just 12 months back at the club, with a view to looking at new opportunities elsewhere. It's stated that the exit is not related to Slot's dismissal earlier this year, with the goalkeeping coach making the Reds aware of his decision before the end of last season. The split has been described as "amicable" on both sides, with work now to be done to consider the next lead of goalkeeping for Iraola's own coaching setup.Xavi Valero has previously worked for West Ham, among other clubs(Image: Getty Images)Colin Stewart, Liverpool's goalkeeper development and pathway lead, will take over temporarily as the players prepare to return for pre-season before the end of the month. It will be their first taste of life under Iraola and his coaching methods, as the new manager is joined by Pablo de la Torre, Tommy Elphick and Shaun Cooper, who all make the move over from Bournemouth. It's unclear exactly who will be available for Iraola in the first week of training, due to so many stars being away on international duty at the World Cup this summer. The likes of Alisson Becker, Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch, Cody Gakpo, and Florian Wirtz were only recently knocked out of the competition, with their upcoming break likely to see them miss out on the first few weeks of action.Summer arrival Victor Munoz is still competing in North America with Spain, while Alexis Mac Allister is also featuring for Argentina in the tournament, meaning they are set for a longer break. There will likely be a fresh face or two involved, including new signing Jeremy Jacquet, while academy prospects such as Josh Abe may fill out the rest of the squad. It remains to be seen just how quickly Liverpool can hit the ground running under the new coaching setup, but there is already another change on the way following Valero's departure.
