Liverpool may have a “big advantage” in the battle to sign Bournemouth attacker Antoine Semenyo, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke. Speaking to Football Insider, O’Rourke claimed that Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes’ relationship with Bournemouth could give them the edge in the race to sign Semenyo.
“I think in the summer all those clubs will be looking at Semenyo, seeing if he could be lured away from Bournemouth. Opportunities to move away will come with those big clubs obviously looking to draw from that chance to play at the highest level possible.” Could Semenyo be Liverpool’s next Sadio Mane?
Semenyo is a fantastic player – one who has been hailed as “clinical” by Lewis Cook – and he could prove to be the closest thing Liverpool have had to Sadio Mane since the Senegalese departed. The fact that Hughes could help Liverpool pip some of their rivals to Semenyo’s signature can only be a good thing, and he should be considered a primary transfer target at the end of this season.
