Liverpool remain keen on signing Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh in the January transfer window, according to reports, as the Reds still need to find a replacement for Mohamed Salah. According to Football Insider, Liverpool will be keeping a close eye on Minteh and may return with another bid for the Gambian winger after having multiple bids rejected in the summer transfer window.

Liverpool decided to walk away from talks with Brighton after they demanded £75m for the 22-year-old, but the failed transfer hasn’t discouraged the Reds. “A lot will depend on what Liverpool do between now and January, if Barcola comes in and hits the ground running and maybe they find a solution to that right wing position, whether that’s Cody Gakpo or Victor Munoz, then they might not need to bring in that right-sided attacker.” Liverpool signed Bradley Barcola for £123m, and the French attacker made his debut on Friday, setting a Premier League record for the fastest sprint so far this season.

Keeping the Swede fit will be critical to Liverpool’s chances of success this season, particularly until Hugo Ekitike returns from his Achilles tendon recovery. If he returns at the level he was at before the injury, Liverpool will have one of the most terrifying attacks in Europe.
