Liverpool are reportedly keen on strengthening their central defence with the purchase of Barcelona star Ronald Araujo in January, as per Spanish website Fichajes. The Reds have been hugely impressive in the early part of the campaign, but they have recently suffered a dip with back-to-back losses in all competitions.
They presently have Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk as the regular centre-backs, but the former has been poor with his performances in recent games. Amidst this, Fichajes claim that they could swoop for Araujo in January.
They see him as a competitor and a replacement for Konate in the right centre-back role. Araujo agreed a release clause worth 65 million euros when signing his new deal at Barcelona, but reports claim that he could be sold for 50 million euros in January.
