Jeremie Frimpong has left a lot to be desired since joining Liverpool this summer. The Reds had a hugely impressive summer in the transfer market and, on paper, the amount of money they had spent looked like it went in the right areas. However, only Hugo Ekitike has managed to really leave an impression so far, with the others still taking their time to get up to speed.Frimpong is one of these that is still adjusting, with the right-back far from first-choice at this moment in time.Conor Bradley has got the nod over him recently, with Dominik Szoboszlai then moving back into this position when Arne Slot makes a change.Choosing to play a midfielder there instead certainly says a lot about how the Dutchman has started, but he could be about to prove Liverpool fans very wrong and show them he can play elsewhere.Photo by Gerrit van Keulen/Soccrates/Getty ImagesJeremie Frimpong can prove that he is capable of being a wingerFrimpong has always been known for his attacking prowess, with the 24-year-old much more than ‘just’ a full-back.He likes to bomb down the flank and overlap the winger in front of him, almost playing in their position instead. In fact, Slot has already tried him as a right winger this season when benching Mohamed Salah against Galatasaray, something that excited fans when they saw the teamsheet. That experiment failed pretty quickly, though, and it appears as if Slot made a mistake, suggesting he would not try that again. However, for the Netherlands, he plays there regularly and is expected to feature in this position when they take on Malta, and then Finland this week. With that said, this could be his chance to prove himself once again and show why Slot was right to give him a chance there, as well as prove Reds fans wrong.READ MORE: Danny Murphy says he was so wrong about one thing regarding Liverpool before this season startedBut if he fails to impress, then that leaves him in a very sticky situation, as then his best position is still not fully known.Liverpool will need Jeremie Frimpong to step up in Mohamed Salah’s absenceEvery other year, Liverpool need to work out how they are going to cope when Salah goes to AFCON with Egypt, although this year might perhaps be easier. This is not only because the winger has seen his form drop off at the start of the season, but because the Reds now have alternative options to choose from, Frimpong being one of them.Salah could miss up to six games between December and January, meaning Frimpong needs to step up and fill the void.Liverpool, of course, also have Federico Chiesa as an option, but given his injury record, counting on him may prove a little tricky.
