Liverpool FC legend Mark Lawrenson led the reopening of The Liverpool pub's basement - a space that had remained hidden since the 1950s - welcoming guests through the doors and pouring the first pint there in over half a century. An investment of roughly £300,000 has been made to renovate the basement space into an authentic Irish destination named Baby Temp'l.

The original basement entrance on James Street has been reinstated allowing guests to enter through a doorway to resemble walking into a giant beer barrel. The venue features private snugs and booth seating, a dance floor and sports screens and a social media photo wall for guests. One of the most unique design elements is a newly created window installation designed to feel like a view across the River Mersey. The interactive display features passing ships, including a special appearance from the legendary RMS Titanic sailing past a nod to Liverpool’s maritime history and the venue’s close proximity to the docks.Bably Temp'l launched today with stilt walkers, themed entertainment, appearances from local dignitaries and former Liverpool FC star Mark Lawrenson leading the celebrations. There will be regular live music, a food menu and special guests appearing daily, with extended opening hours until 2am on Friday and Saturday. The 150-capacity venue will be overseen by publican brothers Tom and Daniel Dalton, who also manage Fenwick Street's Slaughter House and Fenwick street Hotel.Tom and Daniel Dalton said: "We're excited to continue our great partnership with Stonegate Group and Matt Croft, our regional manager, as we plan to open our exciting new Irish venue in Liverpool."The city, of course, has a close connection with Ireland, and with such strong demand for this, we hope Temp'l will be a great success.

We cant wait to show Liverpool what we've created and open our door for St Patrick's Day."Our goal is to provide great food and drink, excellent service, fantastic atmosphere and somewhere everyone can come for a great time."Choose Liverpool Echo as a 'Preferred Source' on Google News for quick access to the news you value.Liverpool PubsSt Patrick's DayLiverpool FCLiverpool City Centre
