Liverpool FC got in contact with Zena Benson after she recently shared her son's Christmas wish with the Liverpool ECHOA youngster who's faced a series of health challenges is to be given a special Christmas surprise from his beloved Liverpool FC.Before last Easter, Myles Benson from Aintree had been the picture of health as he enjoyed playing sport and going to watch the Reds at Anfield with his dad David. However, after complaining of a sore knee during a trip to Whitby in the school holidays with his family, the nine-year-old's health gradually began to take a turn for the worse. After returning home, Myles' mum, Zena, took him to Ormskirk hospital where an X-ray found there was "nothing there", before a further visit saw him diagnosed with a common growing-related disease in the knee.As time passed and his health began to worsen, things eventually came to a head during his school sports day when Zena said he "could hardly run and then the whole of the right hand side of his body had dropped."Since then, Myles has been through months of medical procedures and check-ups after it was discovered that the cause of his declining health had been a cyst and tumour growing on the left side of his brain. But, after successful operations to remove the growths from his brain, Myles' health issues persisted after it was later discovered that there was fluid present meaning he would have to undergo another operation.

After his latest check-ups with the oncologist have provided more positive results, Zena and David are hopeful that they can finally start looking towards the future. With that in mind, his mum and dad were looking to make this Christmas the most special yet for the youngster, as they hoped his dream of meeting his footballing heroes could become a reality. After the ECHO covered the family's story last weekend, Liverpool FC have been in touch with Zena and her husband to say that they will be sending over a selection of gifts and two tickets to a stadium tour for Myles to explore Anfield. While Zena had previously mentioned that Myles's wish had always been to meet some of his favourite players, she said that she expected him to be "made up" when he woke up on Christmas morning to see the gifts the club had offered him. Zena told the ECHO: "It'll be a nice surprise for him, he'll be really made up when he sees them, it'll put a smile back on his face and make him feel a bit happy again."She added: "It's nice that they've given something back to him after he's given to everyone else.

I am made up that they're going to send him something, it's lovely."While Myles had been a regular attendee at Anfield with his dad before his health struggles started earlier this year, it will be an emotional moment for the youngster when he finally makes his return to the historic stadium after being unable to attend a game for months due to his condition.Zena said: "He'll be so happy to get to go back [to Anfield] because obviously we've had to be really careful because he can't have any knocks to his head, so he's going to be absolutely overjoyed. I'm so happy and I'd like to say a huge thank you to them, Myles is going to be made up, he's going to be over the moon."She added: "I don't think anybody knows just how much it means to him after everything that he's been through to finally have a little bit of joy, so I'm thrilled."
