As it was, Amorim’s loyalty to his system is what truly led to Liverpool looking at other options.Could Amorim have been successful at Liverpool?It is easy to look at the direction of travel at Liverpool and Man United since last year as proof that Amorim would have been as poor at Anfield as he has been at Old Trafford.But while that may most likely have been the case, it is not a certainty by any means.Having led his team to two titles – and well on the way to a third – at Sporting, it is clear that Amorim has what it takes to be a top-level coach.United are in a poor place almost across the board right now, but in a more stable surrounding at Liverpool, perhaps Amorim could have found the right conditions to thrive.There will not be a Liverpool-leaning soul at Anfield on Sunday who would swap their boss for the one down the East Lancs Road, but there is a reason Amorim was on Liverpool’s list at all.
