Liverpool Echo IconSportFootballLiverpool FCLiverpool have used Dominik Szoboszlai, Jeremie Frimpong and Federico Chiesa on the right-wing since dropping Mohamed Salah earlier this monthKenny Cunningham believes Jeremie Frimpong could be the answer for Liverpool on the right-wing after Federico Chiesa failed to make the most of a rare start in the Reds’ 2-1 victory over Wolves at the weekend. The Italian started in place of the suspended Dominik Szoboszlai, but was replaced by Conor Bradley on the hour-mark.The introduction of the Northern Ireland international saw Frimpong, who set up the opening goal for Ryan Gravenberch from right-back, take up a more advanced role for the remainder of the game.Mohamed Salah, who is currently away at the Africa Cup of Nations, has been Liverpool’s undisputed first-choice option on the right flank since he first joined the club back in the summer of 2017.READ MORE: Mohamed Salah poised to miss Arsenal clash as Liverpool star benched at AFCONREAD MORE: Marc Guehi transfer stance made clear after Arne Slot offers Liverpool hintBut he found himself benched by Arne Slot earlier this month as the Dutchman looked to rectify the Reds’ struggles, with Liverpool since embarking on a seven-game unbeaten run.Szoboszlai will return from suspension for the Reds’ clash with Leeds United on New Year’s Day, while Salah will be available for Liverpool again next month when his AFCON campaign concludes. But Cunningham thinks Frimpong could be the answer for Slot in the position during the second half of the season regardless, with the former Republic of Ireland international urging the Reds head coach to instead turn to the transfer window if it does not work out.“The big question is down Liverpool's right side,” he said on Premier Sports.

“Salah is out of the team, he could potentially come back to the football club after AFCON.“Have they got the solution in the squad at the moment? Who else have they got?“This lad Frimpong might be the answer and his partnership with Bradley down that right-hand side.“He hasn't got the ability to turn in tight little pockets like Salah at his best.

He can get at his man in one-v-one situations and get the ball into the box.“He has that burst of pace that Salah had a couple of years ago but hasn't got now, to get Liverpool a bit of width down that side and get good quality delivery into the box.“He might be the answer in the short term, him and Bradley. If it isn't, they might have to get somebody in.”
