Liverpool have reportedly been spoken to regarding a move for Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi on a free transfer this summer. The Reds and other Premier League clubs are keeping a “close eye” on the 28-year-old, and he has “already made his intentions clear to the Cherries hierarchy, informing the club he is ready to move on from the Vitality Stadium at the end of the season.” Is Marcos Senesi a perfect squad player for Liverpool?

There is plenty to like about Senesi, with Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola making it clear how highly he thinks of him as a player during their time together: “I think Marcos has been very good. He was performing well even before I arrived to the club.
On the ball, off the ball, he understands very well also the way we want to play and for us it’s very valuable.” Senesi is an experienced defender who has made 121 appearances for Bournemouth and also won three caps for Argentina, highlighting his international pedigree, and he has averaged a huge 7.3 clearances per game in the league this season. The fact that he would arrive on a free makes it less of a gamble, too, and if he is happy to be a squad player for Liverpool, he could prove to be a solid addition.
