Liverpool are said to be eyeing a move for exciting young Manchester City teenager Xavier Parker, with rivals Manchester United also pushing to sign him. According to TEAMtalk, both the Reds and United “have put forward proposals and are understood to believe they can offer Parker an attractive pathway into senior football.” The interest is only from English clubs, however, with Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Real Madrid all said to be in the mix, too, but City “remain determined to keep one of the brightest prospects to emerge from their academy system in recent years.” Xavier Parker: A Liverpool target with huge potential If Liverpool were able to sign Parker from City, it could be a significant piece of transfer business, with the highly-rated 16-year-old hailed by journalist Bence Bocsak last month: “Became the second youngest player to debut for Man City in the UEFA Youth League.

Could be a massive coup from LFC.” Parker is wanted by some of Europe’s biggest clubs for a reason – he has 13 goal contributions in 20 appearances for City’s Under-18s, as well as winning eight caps for England’s Under-16s – and Liverpool have to push hard to sign him. He is an attacking midfielder, but his versatility also allows him to do a job in a deeper role, and the sky looks to be the limit for him, assuming he avoids serious injury.

Andoni Iraola will hopefully focus more on blooding young players than Arne Slot did, and if Liverpool do strike a deal for Parker, the Reds’ new head coach would surely love the idea of getting the best out of him.
