Now Liverpool legend Graeme Souness has added his name – briefly – back to the coaching list, 20 years after his last job in management after leaving Newcastle. The 72-year-old Liverpool legend returned to the training pitch with Easthouse Lily Miners Welfare FC in Scotland, taking a session as part of Flutter UK & Ireland’s Cash4Clubs grassroots initiative.
The Scot has been away from the dugout for two decades and has repeatedly made it clear he is “done with management” in the traditional sense, preferring to support the game through punditry and charity work. This latest outing was about giving something back, using his profile to shine a light on a community club and a funding programme that has already distributed more than £7 million to grassroots sport over the last 20 years.
