Hugo Ekitike returns to the starting lineup for Liverpool’s Champions League fixture at Galatasaray, with Arne Slot making four changes from the weekend’s defeat. The Frenchman was forced to watch his side’s first loss of the campaign from home after his “not smart” one-match suspension, but the striker returns for his sixth start.

There is no place for Mohamed Salah in the XI against the Turkish champions, however, and it leaves Slot’s exact formation uncertain ahead of kickoff. In midfield, Ryan Gravenberch is joined by Curtis Jones – who is making only his third start of the season – and Florian Wirtz.

And as there is no Salah in the XI, we expect Jeremie Frimpong to start on the right wing, with Cody Gakpo and Ekitike alongside. With Ekitike starting that means Alexander Isak drops to the bench as one of eight outfield options available to Slot after Federico Chiesa was left on Merseyside due to a “little niggle.” Liverpool: Alisson; Szoboszlai, Konate, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Gravenberch, Jones; Frimpong, Wirtz, Gakpo; Ekitike Substitutes: Mamardashvili, Woodman, Gomez, Robertson, Bradley, Endo, Mac Allister, Ngumoha, Salah, Isak Galatasaray: Cakir; Singo, Sanchez, Bardakci, Jakobs; Torreira, Gundogan, Lemina; Akgun, Yilmaz, Osimhen Substitutes: Guvenc, Unyay, Elmali, Ayhan, Baltaci, Sallai, Kutlu, Sara, Kutucu, Demir, Sane, Icardi IN: Frimpong, Jones, Gakpo, Ekitike OUT: Bradley, Mac Allister, Salah, Isak
