Liverpool had, according to the BBC, lodged a planning application with the city council to change when it is allowed to host such gigs after the Foo Fighters and My Chemical Romance performed last month. The rules currently state that there must be a 31-day window in July when there are no events to allow local residents a breather from the hustle and bustle as well as mass foot traffic.Liverpool Football Club's planning agent, Mark Worcester, claimed there had been "major demand" for the stadium to put on a show after receiving word from concert promoters. The club asked the local council to change the agreement albeit they would agree to maintain a dedicated 31-day block when no events - music or soccer matches - would take place.
However that would almost certainly affect home matches in the Premier League after the beginning of the new campaign.Worcester again said under the current rules "a global act was unable to play at Anfield, resulting in lost revenue to the city."He added: "Anfield is a popular choice for major global artists, some of whom do not perform at any other venue in the north of the country."Taylor Swift is one big name who has performed at Anfield(Image: Getty Images)MCR performed as part of their most recent UK tour on Tuesday evening while American rockers Foo Fighters put on two nights of sold-out shows at the stadium.Liverpool needs a license to stage these shows due to alcohol being served as well as noise issues and timings. And now, due to the current regulations in place, no further performances or events can be permitted at Anfield until August 1.Councillor Portia Fahey told the planning committee the requested changes from the club would reduce the respite residents get.And she explained how the event fallout would go longer than the initial six planned dates. She said: "If you're shifting it into mid-July that would essentially widen that calendar for events to take place and it's not just the six events that may take place, it's the set up around them as well."It's the construction noise of building the stage and sound system, it's the full sound checks you get then taking it down and heavy HGVs taking everything away."The impact is not just these six days, it's a shortened respite period, it is much longer."Choose Liverpool.com as a 'Preferred Source' on Google News for quick access to the news you value.Liverpool FCAnfield
