Liverpool Player Ratings: Alexander Isak “non-existent” as Gakpo struggles

Below is a summary of the full article. Click here for the full version from This is Anfield or go back to LFC Live.

Isak (3.75) may be Liverpool’s record signing, but he is performing like a player worth a tenth of the £125 million spent on him, if that. The Swede got the lowest overall score for the Reds, with GOAL’s Jude Summerfield saying he “still looks rather off the pace” in a Reds shirt, with seemingly no plan to utilise his strengths.

Meanwhile, TIA’s Henry Jackson was stronger in his criticism of Isak, claiming he was “bordering on non-existent.” Cody Gakpo (3.98) wasn’t much better for Liverpool, with the winger ineffective on the left flank as Slot hooked him at half time and later said, he “struggled to dominate the one-v-ones.” The Echo‘s Ian Doyle felt his “quality and variation” were lacking, but did at least praise the “effort” that he showed. Virgil van Dijk (4.25) certainly wasn’t good on the night, but Summerfield’s two-out-of-10 rating for him feels extremely harsh!

On a positive note, Florian Wirtz (6.63) top-scored for the Reds, playing the crucial part in Liverpool’s equaliser. What the stats say According to FotMob, Ryan Gravenberch was Liverpool’s best player, which may bemuse some!
