Ibrahima Konate’s Liverpool future is in doubt after an impasse in contract talks. Konate was previously locked in negotiations over extending his stay at Anfield and revealed after April’s Merseyside derby win over Everton that a decision was ‘close’.

The France international further hinted at a successful conclusion by admitting there was ‘a big chance’ he would remain with Arne Slot’s side for the next season. But Konate’s five-year stay with the Reds is now in hanging in the balance as he edges closer to becoming a free agent when his current deal expires next month.
