Daily Mirror IconSportFootballAlexander IsakAlexander Isak moved to Liverpool for a British-record fee but his drawn out transfer saga denied him a pre-season, which means he's still getting up to speed at AnfieldLiverpool star Cody Gakpo admits Alexander Isak's lack of pre-season was "a little unfortunate" with the British-record signing yet to hit top gear since his deadline day move from Newcastle.Isak was regarded as one of the best strikers in the world during his time at Newcastle, which saw them scoop £125million from his move to Anfield, but the Swede has scored just once in his six outings across all competitions in red.The saga involving Isak's Newcastle exit dragged on for much of the summer and eventually saw Eddie Howe manage his first-team squad without the striker, who had to train solo away from the first-team. He told Premier League Productions: "I think it's always been difficult when new players come in to adapt to the team.
But I think now when we have a lot of new players, sometimes it's difficult when you change the team."We lost also a lot of players who were here [for] a long time. It's all these things together - but I think we will find a way forward."Questions were raised when Liverpool continued to push for Isak despite already having Ekitike in the building.
"There is no headache at all, because I even think that these two players are happy that we have them both," he said.Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content.
