Liverpool have completed the signing of Genk goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans. Brughmans sealed a deadline day move to Anfield on Tuesday after Andoni Iraola’s side agreed a £30 million package to secure the teenager’s signature.
He will remain with Genk on loan for the remainder of this season in a move which mirrors the one that sealed Giorgi Mamardashvili’s signing in 2024. Nottingham Forest had emerged as potential suitors to the Georgian, which would have seen Liverpool’s latest recruit drafted in as immediate back-up.
However Mamardashvili will remain second in command to Alisson with Freddie Woodman maintaining his spot as the club’s third-choice stopper. Liverpool will have an option to recall Brughmans from loan in January but Genk publicly insisted that chance is ‘slim’ when announcing the deal.
