Liverpool Echo IconSportFootballLiverpool FCLiverpool Under-21 head coach Rob Page has been talking Liverpool teenage talents Rio Ngumoha and Jayden DannsLiverpool may have splashed out more than £200m on new forwards in the summer as well as signing attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz for £116m. But head coach Arne Slot has a 'special talent' and an 'England No.9' waiting in the wings too.Slot freshened up his frontline with the British transfer record £125m purchase of Alexander Isak and the £79m arrival of Hugo Ekitike after completing a move for the in-demand Wirtz. And, while the Reds' results going into the international break were disappointing, there is no doubt that the Dutchman has a luxury of attackers managerial rivals are envious of.READ MORE: Rob Page explains why he agreed to major Liverpool coup after history-making Wales stintThrow in Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo and Federico Chiesa and Slot will be spoilt for choice when all his frontmen are fit and firing. But the Liverpool boss also has to find a way to give minutes to Rio Ngumoha, who announced his arrival on the Premier League scene with a dramatic winner at Newcastle United in August. But as well as the 17-year-old wonderkid, Slot also has a striker on his books who could eventually succeed captain Harry Kane as England centre-forward.That's the verdict of former Wales manager Rob Page, who in the summer became the shock head coach of the Reds' under-21s team. And ahead of Wales' friendly against England at Wembley on Thursday (October 9), Page talked up the 'special talent' Ngumoha but also fellow Liverpool young gun Jayden Danns."He's a special talent, I'm not going to lie," Page said of Ngumoha while speaking on talkSPORT."In high-pressure situations he manages to step it up, he has such a calmness about him, but what a humble kid too."First and foremost I'm impressed by his attitude, he wants to learn every single day and he doesn’t switch off."Ngumoha made his first start of the season for the Reds in their 2-1 Carabao Cup victory at home to Southampton last month before being replaced on the 75-minute mark by Danns. But the 19-year-old's hopes of more first-team appearances were hit when he suffered another untimely injury setback while playing for Page's U21s.Danns, who has scored three goals in nine appearances for the Liverpool senior side, had been due to spend the second half of last season on loan at Sunderland but subsequently had his campaign ended early by a back problem that required further rehabilitation in the summer.Another layoff could further slow his progress but Page has no doubt about his ability."I've got Jayden Danns here as well who's probably going to be the next England No.9 in years to come."Page continued of the young Reds players he now oversees: "Their attitude is exemplary, they’re a credit to their families and first class."Many kids in academies you see they get carried away but for some reason here, I think it’s their upbringing and the influence of the academy, they’re grounded and very humble people."
