Liverpool transfer news around Florian Wirtz has resurfaced after comments linked the German international with Barcelona. According to SPORT, Barcelona tracked Wirtz before Liverpool signed him from Bayer Leverkusen in 2025.

Liverpool paid £116m for the 23-year-old, and his return has fallen short of expectations. The Liverpool boss has started Wirtz in every Premier League appearance this season, and has defended his contribution beyond goals and assists.

The Catalan club has financial limits, while Liverpool has little reason to compromise on a player still central to its plans. Liverpool transfer news may continue, but the numbers alone won’t force Liverpool’s hand.
