Liverpool have been told why signing an Arsenal star would be able to fix some of the issues they've faced this seasonFormer Liverpool star Stephen Warnock has explained why an Arsenal player could be the perfect signing for the Reds. However, Warnock also acknowledges that the deal is highly unlikely to happen. The January transfer window is fast approaching and Liverpool are already being linked with several potential new signings.Arne Slot added nine new signings to his squad in the summer, which also saw several other stars leave the club. One player Liverpool signed in the summer was Jeremie Frimpong, who arrived in a deal worth £29.5million from Bayer Leverkusen after the Reds agreed to activate the release clause in his contract.Frimpong has been forced to deal with two hamstring injuries during his first season at Liverpool, but he did provide the assist for Ryan Gravenberch's goal in the win over Wolves on Saturday.READ MORE: Ryan Gravenberch explains how Liverpool change is being helped by one playerREAD MORE: Virgil van Dijk reveals Liverpool talks as latest concern grows - 'It hurts'Warnock has argued, though, that Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber would be the perfect signing for Liverpool - but also admits that the move is highly unlikely to happen."When I look at the defence and who Liverpool should sign, personally I think they need a centre-back and a right-back," Warnock told Aceodds."In the right-back position they have Frimpong, Gomez and Bradley.
That is a major issue for Liverpool at the moment."Liverpool are a better team when they have a proper right back in that position. It balances the team better and allows [Dominik] Szoboszlai to play in the midfield."So, I think signing a right back is equally as important as signing a centre back at the moment."The issue I have with right backs at the moment is that it always seems to be midfield players playing there, the Guardiola style.
I think you need a specialist for that right-back, which can be difficult to find in January."In an ideal world I would bring in Jurrien Timber, but I don;t think Arsenal would allow that. I think he is the best right-back in the league.
