Victory this evening is not imperative given the nature of the new-look Champions League but a real performance would go a long way towards Liverpool being able to say they are out now out of the woods after a torrid October.Real, like Villa and Manchester City on Sunday, are expected to be one of the least direct teams they will play this season, which will help Liverpool given their vulnerability to that style of football in recent weeks. With respect to Villa, however, they aren't quite Real Madrid, so this will be a massive test of Liverpool and a good barometer of where they are currently.
