Liverpool Echo IconSportFootballLiverpool FCLiverpool 15-year-old Josh Abe has announced he won't play again this season after suffering suspected knee problemLiverpool youngster Josh Abe has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after suffering a serious injury while on international duty.Abe, the 15-year-old winger who has made a huge impact with the under-18s this season, picked up the issue when part of the England U16s squad for a recent tournament in Antalya in Turkey with games against Denmark, Spain and France.Having scored against Denmark earlier in the week, Abe appeared to hurt his left knee when falling awkwardly under a challenge early on in the 2-1 defeat to France on Thursday but was able to play on for a further 15 minutes before having to eventually limp off.READ MORE: Hugo Ekitike explains Liverpool situation he is 'not happy' about - 'to be honest'And the player revealed on Instagram over the weekend that he won't play again this campaign due to the issue."Tough one to take having my season cut short, but everything happens for a reason,” posted Abe.The teenager will now return to Liverpool to have the injury assessed before he begins his rehabilitation programme.Abe has been in impressive form for the U18s, scoring eight times in 10 U18 Premier League North appearances including a hat-trick against Leeds United last time out, while also becoming the youngest player to represent Liverpool in the UEFA Youth League.Those showings have seen the youngster catch the eye of a number of clubs including Manchester City and Chelsea, and he was recently given a tour of Real Madrid's facilities having signed up with Tyler Alexander-Arnold's PLG Agency.Liverpool, though, are keen to hold on to Abe and have offered him a scholarship.
