Liverpool Women record holder Gemma Bonner is set to leave this summer. Bonner has become the club’s all-time appearance maker in the Women’s Super League across two spells, the first of which delivered back-to-back titles.
The central defender, 34, was captain for that double success under the late Matt Beard before returning to the Reds for a second stint in January 2023. A dressing room at the club’s academy in Kirkby was renamed in her honour in recognition of her surpassing Ashley Hodgson’s previous record of 134 games.
Gemma Evans will also be departing from Merseyside after Saturday’s WSL finale against Arsenal at Anfield after two seasons in a red shirt. The Wales international made 38 combined outings which coincided with runs to the Women’s FA Cup semi-finals under Amber Whiteley and Gareth Taylor.
