Manager Iraola and his staff kept a close eye on the player as well as the rest of the team as they took part in small-sided games and ball work. The Reds still have some players recuperating from the World Cup, while others remain in the United States taking part as the final four, including Argentina's Alexis Mac Allister, who will play in Sunday's final. And there are some senior players still attempting to gain fitness, leaving just 15 senior members of the squad available, which includes three goalkeepers. That forced Iraola to get creative and the Spaniard called winger Abe, who is expected to make the trip to the United States for the club's tour next week, and some of his teammates from the academy squads to join. The AXA Training Centre was the background as Abe and the rest of the kids looked to try and make an impact in front of their head coach in a bid to impress and perhaps stick around the first team for the new campaign.Andoni Iraola is the new Liverpool head coach(Image: Getty Images)Some of the other players to be involved included Mor Talla Ndiaye, Calvin Ramsay, Tommy Pilling and Kieran Morrison.

New signing Ifeanyi Ndukwe, the central defender brought in from Austria Vienna, was also introduced in the same session.Attacking players Will Wright, Lewis Koumas, Keyrol Figueroa and Josh Sonni-Lambie were also involved. That decision came from Iraola, who only had Federico Chiesa and Rio Ngumoha from the first team available in the forward areas.Squad depth is key for the Reds and Iraola explained how he understands the need to improve the team and add numbers as well as strength in depth. But he also acknowledged the opportunity to see some of the kids in action with his own eyes and giving them a chance to impress.“I think there is a chance to use more players also because it’s impossible to deal with this kind of season with 13, 14, 15 players, you need all the squad,” he said earlier this week.“And there are positives on this, but also we have to get ready because in this kind of hard season, a lot of games, injuries will happen, situations will happen.“So, we have to get ready in terms of squad depth so we can deal with the demands of the competition and we can go through those months.“Especially here in England, December, January, February, you know those months are really hard and we have to arrive to those months in a situation where we can deal with them.”
