Liverpool supporters are having to wait patiently for the moment their brand new attack clicks smoothly into gear. The Reds spent north of £300m on three exciting stars this summer, tying up expensive deals for Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike.Unfortunately, the three forwards are yet to really gel, with fitness and form issues impacting Isak and Wirtz in particular. It has been a better start for Ekitike, although the Frenchman has still not had a totally smooth ride. A needless red card against Southampton in September has given way to a three-game goalless spell.Despite their struggles, though, all three players have impressed in moments, and it feels to be only a matter of time before Liverpool see the best of them; both individually and as a unit. That feeling was exacerbated on Friday evening, as the trio each came so, so close to scoring for their countries, but could not quite get the relief of a goal.Photo by Michael Campanella/Getty ImagesThree Liverpool stars all hit the postFootball has always been a game of fine margins.

For Liverpool this season, that has never been more true.In terms of an expensive new signing, the ball going an inch towards or away from the post here and there can be the difference between a great start to life at a new club and a terrible one.READ MORE: Alexander Isak rated by Swedish press vs Switzerland as Liverpool striker fails to score againSadly for Liverpool’s three new, expensive additions, these close calls have been going against them more often than not.On Friday, it became completely clear that something is just working ever so slightly against Isak, Wirtz and Ekitike. Amazingly, all three Liverpool stars managed to hit the post while playing for their country’s.Isak should possibly have scored, but his flicked finish from just in front of the goalkeeper bounced away off the inside of the woodwork.Ekitike did brilliantly for France, dancing past the defender before an excellent strike across the goalkeeper smashed the frame of the goal.

Small margins, but it was a sign that things just aren’t going the trio’s way right now.The tide will turn for under-fire Liverpool trioHad each of Isak, Wirtz and Ekitike had just a little more luck on Friday, they all would have come away with a goal. That could have significantly altered the mood music surrounding them as domestic football gets closer to its resumption.GamesGoalsAssistsAlexander Isak611Florian Wirtz1001Hugo Ekitike1051Instead, Isak and Ekitike are now four games each without a goal, while Wirtz continues to come under pressure for a lack of output. But the good news for Liverpool fans is that the tide will surely turn for these three players if they keep approaching matches in the same way.The quality is there, the movement and ball-striking have not gone away. That will naturally change, and when it does, these three are going to be unstoppable.
