Quietly, Liverpool are revolutionising the way they do business. The Reds hierarchy are now opting to sign players at a younger age, perhaps as an antidote to the inflationary costs of signing world class proven first-team players.Rio Ngumoha and centre-back Ifeanyi Ndukwe are two great examples of this. This provides opportunities and for us an interesting next few years, however it remains to be seen how this will impact the academy and youth development as a whole at Liverpool. In spite of or because of this new way of thinking, here are three Liverpool academy players looking to break through and make the most of opportunities afforded to them. Will WrightBorn in Preston, Wright fits into the above category of young players Liverpool have signed well before they grow close to their full potential.Wright is a whopping six feet four inches tall striker who came through Salford City's academy before signing for the Reds in 2025.He made his senior debut for The Ammies in the EFL Trophy against Wolves U21s in November 2024, before coming on in garbage time in an 8-0 defeat against Manchester City in the FA Cup.Wright featured twice more for Salford in the league that season, before opting to sign for Liverpool over Arsenal in the off-season.The now 18-year-old sustained a knee injury in Liverpool's UEFA Youth League defeat to Atletico Madrid and was sideline for a couple of months.Next season he could build upon his role in the Liverpool team having been a substitute for four of Liverpool's last five Premier League games.Josh Sonni-LambieLiverpool forward Josh Sonnie-Lambie has been magnificent for Liverpool U18s this past season, scoring 21 goals. He was nominated for the U18 Premier League Player of the Season award, having netted 12 in the previous campaign.Sonnie-Lambie made his debut for Liverpool U21s this year, making two appearances in the EFL Trophy. He featured in Liverpool's defeat to Crewe Alexandra and scored his penalty in Liverpool's penalty shootout win over Chesterfield. Also eligible to play for Spain, the teenager has already earnt five caps for Liverpool U18s, scoring five goals.Yet to be included with the first team and undoubtedly raw, Sonnie-Lambie still has a long way to go to prove that he has got what it takes to make it at Liverpool, but the potential is there. Prince CissePrince Cisse, 18, is more of a wildcard than the previous two shouts.Playing to the crowd on this one, Cisse is one to watch in part due to him being the son of former Liverpool cult hero forward Djibril Cisse. His father in the same year as becoming Lord of the Manor of Frodsham helped Liverpool to victory in their 2005 Champions League campaign. The younger Cisse plays predominantly at centre-back, having previously played as a forward.Born in Chester, Cisse has already played twice for Wales U18s and is eligible for France. He made his first appearance for Liverpool U21s against Spurs in March 2026.Within a week of writing, Cisse has just signed his first professional contract with the Reds, demonstrating Liverpool's confidence in him for future development.Add us as a preferred source on GoogleFollow
