Liverpool have had a great number of stars who have really stepped up this year.2025 has been a real up-and-down year for the Reds, as they started it by claiming their second Premier League title, but have ended it by looking like they will not retain it.However, it will still be remembered for all the right reasons, and many Liverpool stars have really stepped up when their team needed it most.Join our newsletter for news & smart analysis. Many have come on leaps and bounds, while some have simply made themselves undroppable, so here are our picks for Liverpool’s most improved players of 2025.Dominik SzoboszlaiPhoto by Giuseppe Cottini/Getty ImagesIf there is anyone more fitting to be included in this category, it is Dominik Szoboszlai, with the Hungarian really showing his worth. He was an important player in the second half of last season, but during the current campaign he really has made himself the first name on the teamsheet. It was unclear where the Hungarian would fit in following the arrival of Florian Wirtz, but now, this question has been flipped due to his ‘brilliant’ form.He really is a manager’s dream as he will play wherever he is asked to, with the 25-year-old almost never dropping below a 7/10 rating. He personifies everything about Liverpool with his work-rate and technical ability, so he is fully deserving of being included in this list.
Ryan GravenberchPhoto by PAUL ELLIS/AFP via Getty ImagesRyan Gravenberch is another obvious candidate for being the most improved player, especially given that he was an outcast under Jurgen Klopp. But under Arne Slot, he has become a stalwart in the middle of the park after moving into a holding midfielder role, with it hard to see him losing his place anytime soon.He protects the backline so well, while also showing off his signature spin to drive forward with the ball, making him effective at both ends of the pitch. The Dutchman really has turned his career around and is also one of the first names on the teamsheet, with 2026 set to be an exciting year for the 23-year-old.Curtis JonesPhoto by Gaspafotos/MB Media/Getty ImagesCurtis Jones is the third and final player to be included, with this one being a hard one to choose. Conor Bradley deserves an honourable mention, but with how much of an impact Jones makes when he plays, it has to be him.Particularly towards the back end of this season, the scouser has shown his ability by dictating games and showing why he was hyped up so much in the academy. Now 24, he really is maturing into the footballer that so many tipped him to become, including Steven Gerrard, with the next year a chance for him to take his career to the next level.
