Credit: Imago Wed 25 March 2026 15:15, UK Manchester City star Rayan Cherki has compared teammate Jeremy Doku to their manager, Pep Guardiola, as they each jet off for international duty. Cherki was one of the stars of City’s Carabao Cup triumph last weekend, as he caused controversy with some slick tricks and skills that helped his side to a 2-0 win.Doku started alongside the 22-year-old in attack, but both players are now turning their focus towards international duty away from the Citizens, as they link up with France and Belgium respectively. Both nations have already qualified for this summer’s World Cup in North America, so will be playing two friendly games each over the next week to prepare for the tournament.Cherki and Doku will both hope to stay fit for Man City’s next match against Liverpool on 4 April, and the former has found time to troll the latter on his outfit of choice to link up with his international teammates.

Just work” had an air of seriousness about it, but City teammate Cherki chose to troll him for his hat of choice for the arrival. The Frenchman commented on the post to say: “Did you take the beret from the coach?????” in reference to Guardiola, to which Doku replied: “hahaha stop it.”Cherki is clearly not letting criticism get to him after Carabao Cup controversyCherki is certainly a character, both on and off the pitch, but many were annoyed at his antics during the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.Aside from juggling the ball and clearly wasting time with some skills in the latter stages, he was also seen to be feigning injury after smiling at Arsenal fans following a late challenge on him by Ben White.Former PGMOL chief Keith Hackett called Cherki a “joke” when speaking exclusively to Football Insider, as those situations put referees on the spot and make it tougher to spot when a player is genuinely hurt. The Frenchman is clearly unbothered by any outside noise, though, and could play a huge part in Man City’s title bid over the next two months, as well as his country’s bid to win the World Cup.
